Querrey & Harrow Scores Two Big Victories For Illinois Taxpayers

Attorneys: Guolee, Terrence F.

July 2008

Chicago shareholder Terrence Guolee recently collected two big “wins” in cases involving the defense of two different counties.

In the first case, serving on appointment as a Special Assistant State’s Attorney in a wrongful death civil rights case, Terrence assisted the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office in obtaining an order from a Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois judge reducing a plaintiff attorneys’ post-judgment attorneys’ fee and cost claim from $1.35 million, down to just over $600,000.00. While the case remains on appeal and payment of any fees and costs remain in dispute, this order potentially saves Cook County taxpayers over $730,000.00 in liability.

Also, Terrence, with the assistance of associate Matt Byrne and shareholder Paul O’Grady, obtained a summary judgment order from another Northern District of Illinois Federal Court judge dismissing all claims filed against the Will County Sheriff’s Office and certain of its employees in a case where plaintiff was claiming he was demoted due to his age
