February 27, 2008

Ernie Burden will be one of two BLSA alumni to be honored at the Glenn T. Johnson Chapter of the Black Law Students Association annual Legacy of Opportunity Reception on February 27, 2008. The event concludes a month-long celebration of Black History, and its purpose is to inspire law students through the life experiences of John Marshall graduates.

Mr. Burden concentrates his practice in civil litigation and fraud investigation. He has successfully completed 28 jury trials and has extensive arbitration experience, many of which involved catastrophic claims and complex litigation issues.

Mr. Burden is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee and has been actively promoting the need and the responsibility of employing a diverse work force within the law firm. He has emphasized that great advantages can be derived from employing a multi-cultural work force to better serve the needs of the firm’s clients as well as the community. To this end, he has participated in minority legal job fairs and promoted student mentoring.

Ernie Burden has given several talks to school age youths on the Westside of Chicago promoting education and possible careers in the law. In the spring of 2008, he will be participating in panel discussions with other professional Afro-American males in an effort to demonstrate to under-privileged children that they can pursue various careers.
