Brett Thomaston is an associate in Querrey & Harrow’s Chicago office and concentrates his practice in general civil defense litigation. Prior to joining Querrey & Harrow, Mr. Thomaston was a law clerk at Querrey & Harrow’s Chicago office.
Mr. Thomaston’s vigorous representation of his clients extends to nearly every phase of litigation, including attending arbitrations, drafting and arguing motions, and presenting witnesses for depositions. Mr. Thomaston is also well-versed in motion practice, having drafted a wide variety of motions ranging from dispositive motions for summary judgment to motions in limine and motions to transfer venue. Although Mr. Thomaston’s practice is diverse, he concentrates on civil litigation, namely in construction, auto liability, and premises liability.
Mr. Thomaston received his juris doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School, where he graduated cum laude. While in law school, Mr. Thomaston was the Editor-in-Chief of The John Marshall Law Review. In addition, Mr. Thomaston achieved Dean’s List honors and was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Secured Transactions. Mr. Thomaston also completed an externship in the felony trial division of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Thomaston attended Butler University, where he graduated with a double major in Criminology and Spanish and a minor in Business Law. While attending Butler University, Mr. Thomaston played four years of varsity football.
