Querrey & Harrow Welcomes New Associates Maelene Torres and Avai Beck.

Maelene TorresMaelene will work in insurance fraud investigations and general civil defense litigation. Prior to joining Q&H, Maelene worked as plaintiff’s personal injury associate attorney. She quickly became well-versed in litigation matters such as trial, mediation, arbitration and motion practice in multiple State Courts and Federal Court.

As a law student, Maelene attended John Marshall Law School and was a student ambassador for incoming students. She was also a member of the Student Bar Association and the Latin American Student Bar Association.  She graduated early with her Juris Doctrine (JD) degree in 2017 and passed the Illinois State Bar shortly after.

In her free time, Maelene sits as the treasurer for YPCA - Mujeres en Accion, the largest non-profit Latina based organization in the county. She also is a former McHenry's Big Brothers Big Sister’s mentor where she won “Big and Little of the Year" in 2017 for assisting and mentoring her little to graduate with high honors from high school and receive a scholarship to Western Kentucky University.

Avai Beck

Avai will work on general civil defense litigation, including business contracts and real estate issues. Prior to becoming an Associate, Avai thrived as a student at the John Marshall Law School where he was a part of the advanced trademark clinic. Avai is also a former U.S. Marine who completed two combat tours in Afghanistan.

Prior to obtaining his law degree, Avai attended DePaul University and graduated with a Bachelor of Marketing and Advertising and Communication, earning Dean’s List honors.
