Querrey & Harrow Sponsors Chicago Debate League Season Opener Tournament

October 3, 2009

Chicago, Illinois – On October 3, 2009, Querrey & Harrow, together with IST Management Services, will sponsor the Chicago Debate League Season Opener Debate Tournament, in which more than 400 Chicago Public High School students will compete.  The Chicago Debate League, with 70 high schools and elementary schools and more than 1200 debaters, organizes competitive academic debate programming to help students improve reading, speaking, writing, and listening skills, all while empowering them with confidence and knowledge about world issues not normally encountered by teenage students.  CDL debaters spend hundreds of hours outside of the classroom researching and writing on public policy issues.  "The 2009 Season Opener begins the 13th year of academic debate competition. Thanks to the generous support of these two firms, we expect this to be our most successful inaugural event ever" says Les Lynn, Executive Director of the Chicago Debate League.

Querrey & Harrow volunteers will judge the debates and provide administrative services for the tournament.  “Querrey & Harrow is proud to partner with the Chicago Debate Commission and Chicago Public Schools to bring the children of Chicago opportunities to develop skills which will help them succeed in the business world,” says Michael B. Stillman, managing shareholder of the firm.

Querrey & Harrow is a 70-attorney multi-service law firm serving the Chicago metropolitan region, including Northwest Indiana.
