Querrey & Harrow Scores Two Big Victories For Illinois Taxpayers

July 2008

Chicago shareholder Terrence Guolee recently collected two big “wins” in cases involving the defense of two different counties.

In the first case, serving on appointment as a Special Assistant State’s Attorney in a wrongful death civil rights case, Terrence assisted the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office in obtaining an order from a Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois judge reducing a plaintiff attorneys’ post-judgment attorneys’ fee and cost claim from $1.35 million, down to just over $600,000.00.  While the case remains on appeal and payment of any fees and costs remain in dispute, this order potentially saves Cook County taxpayers over $730,000.00 in liability.

Also, Terrence, with the assistance of associate Matt Byrne and shareholder Paul O’Grady, obtained a summary judgment order from another Northern District of Illinois Federal Court judge dismissing all claims filed against the Will County Sheriff’s Office and certain of its employees in a case where plaintiff was claiming he was demoted due to his age.
