The Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (IDC), the Women's Bar Association of Illinois (WBA), and the Black Women Lawyer's Association (BWLA) will team up to deliver a conference addressing the challenges women attorneys may encounter during their career, providing new tips and techniques for their practice, and offering ideas to maintain a work/life balance to help them succeed in all areas of their lives.
At this conference, April Walkup will discuss the changes in the litigation practice lanscape and address the challenges attorneys face in getting the experience they need to advance their careers.
April R. Walkup is a Shareholder and the Chair of Querrey & Harrow’s Employment and Labor Practice Group. She is also a member of the Health Care Practice Group and has recently defended her first medical malpractice case at trial, long after obtaining a top leadership spot in the firm.
Ms. Walkup joined the firm in early 1998 as an associate with the healthcare litigation practice group. In 1999, she diversified her practice to include employment litigation in order to expand her niche capabilities. In November of 2002, Ms. Walkup was named Chair of the Employment Practice Group and in January of 2003 was elected as a shareholder. During the course of her career, Ms. Walkup has made a conscious effort to continually redefine her practice, expanding into counseling and corporate healthcare, to meet the business needs of her clients.
The conference will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008, at the University Club of Chicago, 76 East Monroe, Chicago. For more information about this exciting conference, please visit the IDC website.
