On Thursday, May 22, 2008, the Chicago Bar Association presented the first annual Donald Hubert Scholars Mock Trial Competition, designed to introduce Chicago area African-American male high school students to the legal profession as a possible career and to successful young lawyers who happen to be African-American. These students will prepare for mock trials, attend a luncheon at which they will mingle with African-American attorneys, compete in the final rounds of the competition at the ceremonial courtroom of the U.S. District Court, and then attend a reception and awards presentation.
Scott Rochelle of Querrey & Harrow generously coordinated the volunteer effort for the event, and several members of Querrey & Harrow's Diversity Committee contributed their time as volunteers, acting as judges or coaches for the mock trial competition.
