Case Successes

Chicago shareholder Dan Kirk and associate Patrick Wall recently obtained a summary judgment order on behalf of a local utility in a case involving damage to the utility's electric lines. The order should allow the utility to collect over $300,000 in damages from the defendant contractor.

Chicago associate Francisco Connell recently successfully quashed a summons and vacated a judgment in a residential mortgage foreclosure case. Judgment had already been entered and our client's $455,000 house had been sold for $50,000 at the foreclosure sale. The motion vacates the bank's judgment, sets aside the judicial sale and our client can breathe again.

Chicago associate Michele Oshman successfully argued a motion for summary judgment in Chancery Court in Cook County, Illinois. In the case, a general contractor sought coverage as an additional insured under a general liability policy issued to our client carrier's named insured for an underlying construction dispute involving a University of Illinois at Chicago dormitory.
