Karen M. Vivian, R.N., Shareholder

Karen Vivian concentrates her practice in health care litigation and is experienced in representing hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, dentists, nurses and physical therapists.  She is also proficient in representing health care professionals before the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Vivian worked as a registered nurse, most extensively in critical care.  She also has experience in the areas of medical-surgical, orthopedics, gynecology and psychiatric nursing.

Ms. Vivian is an active member of the Chicago Association of Nurse Attorneys, having served on its Board of Directors since 2003.

While attending law school at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Ms. Vivian served as Editor of the Health Matrix Journal. 

Ms. Vivian has given lectures to medical technologists and hospital risk managers on hospital liability arising out of the laboratory.  She has also lectured to cardiac technician students, hospital nurses and home health nurses on avoiding legal liability in their practice.
